Best Man Matchmaking: How It All Began
In March 2022, Anthony Canapi recognized a profound void within the matchmaking landscape. While services across the country catered to many, none truly embraced the unique needs of gay men with the authenticity of being LGBTQ+ owned, operated, and led.
Driven by a vision to redefine connection for this community, Anthony asked himself, “Why not be the one to fill this gap?” Thus, Best Man Matchmaking was born—a boutique, heart-centered service dedicated exclusively to gay men seeking meaningful, lasting love.
The story didn’t stop there. Just months after launching, fate introduced Anthony to Daniel Cooley through a mutual connection—retired gay matchmaker Mason Glen. What began as an introduction with Daniel as a prospective client quickly transformed into a partnership rooted in shared passion.
Though Anthony initially hesitated to bring on a partner, Daniel’s unwavering determination and visionary energy soon proved indispensable. Daniel’s unique ability to cultivate relationships propelled Best Man Matchmaking from a modest network of a few hundred members to over a thousand, built entirely on genuine personal referrals.
What started as Anthony’s solo endeavor blossomed into a thriving co-owned enterprise, united by a commitment to exceptional matchmaking.

Dubbed “The Divine Connector,” Daniel grew the community from a handful of members to a thriving network of thousands, many of whom sought his guidance beyond advocacy, turning to him for support in finding genuine love.

Jose is a bicultural, bilingual force with over 25 years’ experience working with Talent in LA, NY and Miami. He was the youngest Director of New Faces for Ford Models, Boss Models and NY Models, which led him to many discoveries such as Tyler Cameron, Nick Bateman and Channing Tatum.
Jose was formerly Editor at Large for Ocean Drive Magazine, interviewing many celebs including Kim, Kourtney, and Khloe Kardashian, Sofia Vergara, Paul Walker, Gisele Bundchen, Zac Posen, Diplo, Tiesto, and John Legend. He also hosted events for Madonna, Cher, Prince and Donatella Versace to name a few.
But none of this was as rewarding as getting into Television where he found success early on by casting Million Dollar Listing: Miami and creating The Real Housewives of Miami. Later, he was Talent Producer of WE’s My Life is a Telenovela. Other shows he helped cast include Love Island, Real Friends of WeHo, Kourtney & Khloe Take Miami, Are You The One, Temptation Island, Finding Prince Charming, Tough Love and Millionaire Matchmaker.
Alongside serving his matchmaking clientele, Jose is currently developing the following TV and Film projects. Including: the Football Biography, “Undefeated” about the 1972 Miami Dolphins and their perfect season; The Docu-Series “Stiletto Mafia” about Successful Latina Realtors in Miami for Peacock and a scripted series, “The World is Not Yours” about the making of the movie Scarface.
